Uncertainty about Jonas Jerebkos form
On Friday, Sweden’s national team captain will talk to the 38-year-old veteran- for the first time since Jerebko’s suspension from club and national team games in Sweden was lifted earlier this week.
Jerebko wants to play this summer’s European Championships to which the basketball lords qualified for the first time in twelve years. But the veteran has been clubless since he injured his health in Puerto Rico in April last year.
Mikko Riipinen is the national team coach who has the main responsibility for the squad that will be taken out for the European Championships, at the end of June.
– Somewhere you will be able to make an assessment of: How does routine stand and those pieces towards playing frequently? says the union captain.
The riipine thinks that It is good that the Swedish Basketball Association (SBBF) and Jonas Jerebko united after the former NBA star’s controversial transition to CSKA Moscow, a month after Russia invaded Ukraine in early 2022. A transition that Jerebko said he regrets.
– It is important and good that you can gather in common values and that you can get to a point where all Swedish basketball players are behind the union’s values and how they look at the world and that we all do it in the same way, says the union captain.
On Wednesday, SBBF announced that Jerebko’s suspension was lifted. Sweden starts the European Cup final on August 27 against Finland in Tampere.
