Ukrainian revenge attacks against designated brigades
The condemnations have replaced each other after the Russian attack on Palm Sunday. At least 34 people were killed and over 100 injured when the Iskander robots struck in central Sumy. Ukraine has accused Russia of using cluster ammunition to further push mortality, in an area full of civilians.
« Only scum can do this, » said President Volodymyr Zelenskyj afterwards.
His intelligence manager Kryrylo Budanov blamed the attack on two Russian associations and promised revenge. One of them, the 112nd Robot Brigade, has been recurring by Ukraine as responsible for attacks against civilians.
Now Ukraine looks to have made reality of the threats. On Wednesday, Brigade’s base in Ivanovo, over 70 miles from the border, was subjected to an attack, according to The Telegraph. Published video films from local residents show from a drone early in the morning crashed into a building and caused a large explosion, according to the newspaper. The extent of the damage is unclear. According to Russia, seven drones were shot down in the Ivanovo region.
The attack came just hours after the second designated brigade’s headquarters were attacked in the Kursk border region.
Pictures from the site showed how a large fire then broke out on the base, according to The Telegraph. Ukrainian military later confirmed on Telegram that the attack was implemented and that Russian ammunition detonated at the plant.
Following the recent Russian attacks, President Zelenskyj has re -appealing to the outside world to send more air defense systems to Ukraine.
« Absolutely everyone can see how urgent the need is, » Zelenskyj said in connection with the meeting with NATO chief Mark Rutte on Tuesday.
