Thursday’s direct negotiations between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul was proposed last week by Russian President Vladimir Putin. Greeding to it responded that he would come to Turkey in person and he called for the same Putin, who he believes has a decisive word in Russia on the issue of war.

However, the Kremlin has so far refused to say whether Putin will come to Istanbul or someone else will go. Finally, it is not certain whether the direct Ukrainian-Russian negotiations in Istanbul will take place at all.

« Meanwhile, the signals from their (Russian) side in the media are unconvincing, » he said on Wednesday evening in a speech by Zelenskyj. He added, however, that even Ukraine was brought about that US President Donald Trump was still considering the possibility that he would jump from the tour of the Persian Gulf states, which could be the « strongest argument » for Putin.

The Ukrainian President added that « everything is decided right now » and this week can really change. However, he emphasized the word « can ».

Greeding also said that Russia only extends war and killing in Ukraine. He thanked all who are putting pressure on Moscow to stop attacking and allow meaningful negotiations at a level at which real decisions can be taken.

« All who help peace and diplomacy – thank you, » he added. (TASR)
