Ukraine Russia Online: G7 countries leave Russian assets frozen until the end of the war
G7 leaders committed to leave frozen Russian assets until the end of the war and support the restoration of Ukraine.
States with the strongest economies thus committed themselves in a joint statement in which they condemned « a continuing brutal war of Russia against Ukraine » and appreciated « the huge resistance of the Ukrainian people and the economy ».
« The G7 remains determined to support Ukraine in defense of its territorial integrity and the right to exist and its freedom, sovereignty and independence towards a fair and lasting peace, » says G7.
In addition, the G7 leaders welcomed « continuing efforts to achieve a ceasefire » and promised to examine the possibilities of « maximizing pressure, such as further tightening of sanctions » to Russia if the ceasefire does not agree.
The World Bank estimated that the restoration of Ukraine after the end of the war would cost $ 524 billion over the next decade.
The G7 states have committed themselves to « help building investors through bilateral and multilateral initiatives » and continue to coordinate the support of Ukraine’s renewal.
The G7 Group also said that in cooperation with Ukraine, it will ensure that no countries or entities that helped Russia could not be involved in the restoration of Ukraine.
The G7 is currently made up of Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom and the United States. The European Union is also represented in the group. (Kyiv Independent)
