Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof announced that the Netherlands does not guarantee unconditional consent to a billion EU defense package.

If necessary, it will veto some parts.

« As regards the taking of joint loans and a significant release of budgetary rules, our country will not agree if necessary, » Schoof said on Friday in Hague.

Last week, the Dutch Prime Minister agreed to the proposal of the 800-billion defense package of the President of the European Commission Ursula von Der Leyen. According to DPA, however, he was rejected by three Dutch coalition parties and agreed on a compromise on the following crisis meeting. The earliest point was reportedly planned to finance armed through common loans and increase state debt.

According to Schoof, the Netherlands will take a « constructive position » during European negotiations. Thus, the Government reserves the right to reject some parts of the package or shall be delayed.

MPs of the Dutch Parliament also rejected the European Armed Plan of Armed with the help of the votes of the members of the government coalition. Geert Wilders, the strongest government party of Freedom (PVV), demanded the dimensional Prime Minister Schoof to withdraw its consent to the plan.

According to the official letter addressed by the government coalition, the debt must remain limited and financial stability must not be endangered. (TASR)
