Ukraine’s defense minister, and chief negotiator Rustem Scarov after the second round of direct negotiations with Russia in Istanbul, said Kiev had proposed the next round of peace talks to be held by the end of June.

« And we propose to the Russian side to hold the next meeting between June 20 and 30, » Scarov said.

He added that a meeting between Ukrainian and Prussian President Volodimir Zelenski and Vladimir Putin should also be agreed, which would eventually be attended by US President Donald Trump.

Scarov said Ukraine had received the Russian memorandum and that Kiev would decide next week on future steps.

He confirmed that at today’s meeting in Istanbul, the exchange of seriously injured, severely ill and juvenile captives was arranged, as well as the return of the bodies of the dead in the 600 format for 600.

We call for the right thing to end the war – ceasefire, humanitarian measures, leaders meeting. If Russia is serious, it will agree. But if not, new sanctions will have to be followed, Scarov said.

Russian chief negotiator Vladimir Medinsky said Russia, in the second round of direct negotiations with Ukraine, proposed a partial ceasefire for two to three days on certain parts of the front.

« We have proposed a concrete ceasefire for two to three days in individual areas of the front, for the commanders to take the bodies of their soldiers, » Medinsky said.

He confirmed that Ukraine had a memorandum with the conditions for a complete ceasefire.
