Ukraine. Optimism Comeded

The world awaits the result of peace negotiations for conflict in Ukraine. Diplomacy in recent weeks has been frantic, marked by advances and setbacks, negotiations and now by more high -level telephone calls. US President Donald Trump spoke to Russian President Vladimir Putin, at a time when he is trying to reach a ceasefire as soon as possible. It is important to remember that Trump, during the campaign, guaranteed that he would put an end to the conflict in ’24 hours’ and even ‘before being president’.

As for the call with Putin, Washington said they both reached a « peacekeeping movement, » but uncertainty persists as to the ceasefire agreement. The Russian leader agreed with the immediate end of attacks on energy infrastructure, but continues to insist on more complex conditions with regard to a ceasing of broader hostilities.

WASHINGTON COMMUNICATION
In the official statement of the White House, the following can be read: “Both leaders agreed that this conflict has to end with a lasting peace. They also stressed the need to improve bilateral relations between the United States and Russia. The blood and money that both Ukraine and Russia have spent on this war would be better employed on the needs of their peoples. In the second sentence of this passage, it is understood the need that both parties have to approach; Trump, whose main rival is China, seems to want to push her from Russia and Putin wants Washington’s support to stop being an outcast.
As for the conditions for a solid ceasefire, the White House statement implies that it will be achieved step by step, starting with « an energy cease and infrastructure », noting that the « technical negotiations on the implementation of a maritime ceasefire in the Black Sea, a total ceasefire and permanent peace ». « These negotiations will start immediately in the Middle East, » says Washington, pointing out that diplomatic delegations will soon meet in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

But beyond the war in Ukraine, the main issue of the call, the Middle East issue has also been addressed and there is something interesting that can be taken from the official statement of the United States. « The leaders spoke of the Middle East as a region of potential cooperation to avoid future conflicts, » says the statement. It is known that the Middle East has been the scene of wars where the interests of the great powers are also at stake. For example, Israel, the only westernized democracy in the region and that has American support, has waged group wars, called proxies, supported by Iran, such as Hamas, Hezbollah or the hits. And Tehran integrates the so -called “axis of revolt”, along with Russia, China and North Korea. Therefore, the following statement of the White House is deserving attention: «(Trump and Putin) have also discussed the need to end the proliferation of strategic weapons and will collaborate with other actors to ensure as broad as possible application. The two leaders share the opinion that Iran should never be in a position to destroy Israel. What is at stake is the obtaining of nuclear weapons from Iran, which would be seen as a high instability factor.
The completion of the American statement reinforces bilateral relations between Washington and Moscow: “The two leaders agreed that a future with an improved bilateral relationship between the United States and Russia has huge advantages. These include huge economic business and geopolitical stability when peace is reached.

Declarations by Moscow
In turn, Kremlin launched an even more detailed statement, exposing some of the conditions for the comprehensive ceasefire. « The Russian party underlined a series of important points regarding the guarantee of an effective control of a possible ceasefire throughout the contact line, the need to end forced mobilization in Ukraine and the rearmament of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, » wrote Moscow. However, it is the next part that has the most indignant who knows the records of the conflict: « The serious risks associated with the disability of the Kiev regime were also marked to respect the agreements, since the agreements achieved has repeatedly sabotaged and repeatedly violated. » After some research, it can be seen that these statements could have been said in relation to Russia and not Ukraine.
The question of the restoration of good bilateral relations was also reinforced by Moscow, who also stated that the conversation came to ice hockey: «Donald Trump supported Vladimir Putin’s idea of organizing hockey games in the United States and Russia among Russian and American players playing at NHL and KHL (Kontinental Hockey League). The presidents agreed to stay in contact with all the questions raised.

Kiev’s Comeded Optimism
After the long conversation with Putin, who lasted more than two hours and marks the contact between the White House and the longest of recent Kremlin, the 47th US President has also established contact with Kiev. Zelensky, in a publication through his official social network account, says he had « a positive, very substantive and frank conversation with US President Donald Trump. » « I thanked him for the good and productive start of the work of the Ukrainian and American teams in Jeddah on March 11, » he continued, « this team meeting contributed significantly to the end of the war. We agreed that Ukraine and the United States should continue to work together to get a real end of war and lasting peace. We believe that, together with America, President Trump and under American leadership, it is possible to achieve lasting peace this year.

As for the first step towards ceasefire, Ukraine proved to be receptive: “One of the first steps to completely end up with war could be the end of energy attacks and other civil infrastructure. I supported this measure and Ukraine confirmed that we are ready to put it into practice. Our teams debated this step in Jeddah. The American part also proposed an unconditional ceasefire on the front line and Ukraine also accepted this proposal. We will continue to work to make this happen. We believe these steps are necessary to create the possibility of preparing a comprehensive peace agreement during ceasefire.

However, Zelensky’s optimism is counterbalanced with Russian conduct in recent days: « I also presented up -to -date information about the situation on the battlefield and the consequences of Russian attacks, » said the Ukrainian leader, who published yesterday the consequences of recent Russian attacks, which dubbed « terrorism ».

Thus, it seems that the process for achieving lasting peace that does not totally penalize the Ukrainians will be complex, but it remains to be waited for great developments.
