Ukraine declares itself prepared to negotiate with Trump

Ukraine said on Tuesday that it is 'discussing' with Europeans the opportunity to replace the US military aid, declaring themselves openly for 'negotiations' with Washington, following the white house announcement to suspend this crucial support for Kiev and its army, reports EFE.

« We are discussing options with our European partners, » wrote on the X platform an advisor to the Ukrainian Presidency, Mihailo Podoliak. « And, of course, we do not exclude the possibility of negotiations with our American counterparts, » he added.

After leaking information according to which the White House decided to stop any military aid granted to Ukraine, Mihailo Podoliak said on Tuesday that it is necessary to « evaluate what specific programs will no longer work. »

The Ukrainian presidential counselor recalled that 'many' of the mechanisms implemented by the US for arming Ukraine 'were already in the final phase'.

« We must also remember that some programs have been approved by Congress, which represents a different legal procedure, » Podoliak added.

« Therefore, we carry out an evaluation, we examine what we have, what can be produced in cooperation with our partners and what can be replaced, » he said on his account on X.

The Ukrainian presidential adviser added that Ukraine is discussing with its European partners to seek new options in the situation created by the possible American aid.

Podoliak said Ukraine should evaluate the opportunity to buy or purchase from Europe the weapons he has received so far from the US.

« And, of course, we do not forget the possibility of negotiating with our American partners, » he reiterated.

The Ukrainian presidential counselor also reminded that Ukraine was already devoid of US for several months during last year due to the Congress by the current Republican elected president Donald Trump of an important help package for Kiev.
