Ukraine said he agreed with the United States proposal for a 30-day ceasefire in the fight with Russia, according to a joint statement issued after talks between the US delegation and Ukrainian in Jedah, Saudi Arabia on March 11.

“Ukraine has expressed a willingness to accept the US proposal to immediately implement a 30-day temporary ceasefire, which may be extended with the mutual consent of the parties, provided it is accepted and implemented by the Russian Federation. The United States will convey to Russia that reciprocity for its part is the key to achieving peace, ”reads a statement published by the Ukrainian Presidency.

The US has pledged to discuss this proposal with Russian representatives.

The announcement also states that the US « will immediately renounce the suspension of intelligence information and resume military aid to Ukraine ».

« Delegations also discussed the importance of humanitarian efforts as part of the peace process, especially during the aforementioned ceasefire, including the exchange of prisoners of war, the release of arrested civilians and the return of Ukrainian forcibly displaced children, » the statement said.

Ukrainian and American delegations also agreed to determine the composition of the negotiating teams « and immediately begin negotiations to achieve sustainable peace that would provide long -term security for Ukraine. »

According to the announcement, the Ukrainian delegation reiterated that European partners should be included in the peace process.

The parties have also agreed to reach an agreement on minerals as soon as possible, which would guarantee prosperity and long -term security to Ukraine.

US Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, now said that during the March 11 meeting, steps were taken towards peace, saying it is now up to Russia to have the same approach.

“Before negotiating, you have to stop shooting. The Ukrainians agreed on this. We hope that the Russians also say yes, in order to end the war in a way that is acceptable to both sides. « 

He said that a « no » of Russia would constitute an obstacle, implying an endless dialogue, stressing that « we need meaningful negotiations ».

Following the talks, US President Donald Trump said he hopes Russia will agree on a ceasefire and hopes for a long -term ceasefire.

He said that this week he could talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin about the issue of war in Ukraine, while stressing that he would invite Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to the White House.

Meanwhile, United States National Security Advisor Mike Waltz, who was part of the US delegation in Jedah, said that during the meeting Ukraine made concrete steps and offered concrete proposals.

He said he will talk to his Russian counterparts in the coming days, while Rubio's chief diplomat would talk to G7's foreign ministers.

In Jedah, the sides discussed for hours behind closed doors. In addition to discussions about the end of the war, Kiev is aiming to improve relations with Washington and renewal of US gun remittances.
