Uber’s taxi services now also work on the Belgian coast, because the app is being rolled out in Blankenberge, Bredene, De Haan, Knokke-Heist, Middelkerke, Ostend and Zeebrugge. « With this launch, the Uber app is available in all major coastal towns, exactly on time for the summer season, » the company reports. « By working together with local taxi drivers, Uber offers both residents and tourists simple access to an affordable and reliable mobility option. »

Reduce parking pressure

Uber has been active in Flanders since 2020 and offers taxi rides via an app. The services offered on the coast include Uberx, the most used service of Uber, but also from, Comfort and Green.

« This launch makes trips to the sea easier and more relaxed, especially during the busy summer months. This is good news for Belgians who go to the coast, » said Laurent Slits, General Manager at Uber Belgium. « By offering more accessible and more reliable ride options, we want to reduce parking pressure and traffic jams, while we are committed to improving mobility throughout the country. »

Not the first

Striking: new users receive up to a 25 euro discount on their first two journeys with a special promo code via the app. That is possible until June 22. Uber is not the first company that offers taxis via an app on the coast. Last year, competitor Bolt also started with journeys aan Zee.
