Two surveys, different results
Two surveys of the follow -up and popularity of candidates for the chairmanship of the Independence Party were published tonight. Both were processed by Gallup.
According to the results of the second survey, more say they would vote for the Independence Party if Guðrún Hafsteinsdóttir becomes its chairman. In the other survey, Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir enjoys more support among the party's supporters than her competitor.
The aforementioned survey was reported in The state radio. It says that she was made for independents in the Crusade who have expressed support for Gudrun. In the media's discussion, 52.5 percent of those who took a stand said that Guðrún was more likely to increase the party's follow -up than 43.4 percent mentioned Áslaugur Örna.
The results of the survey in question also indicate that Áslaug enjoys more support in younger age groups, 49 years and younger, than Guðrún in the older ones.
The latter survey was conducted by Gallup for The business magazine. Her findings show that Áslaug Arna enjoys the support of 50% of the Independence Party supporters for the presidency in the group, while Guðrún Hafsteinsdóttir enjoys supporting 48%.
The same is true of this survey and the other; Áslaug Arna has much more follow -up in younger age groups than Gudrun in the older ones, especially among 70 years and older.
A new chairman of the Independence Party will be elected at the party's national meeting next weekend.
