Two political actors have complained ANCOM


Two of the political actors involved in the election campaign made complaints to ANCOM related to illegal potential content in one of the complaints and altering the visibility on the big platforms in case THE OTHER.

ANCOM also states that, based on its legal tasks conferred by the Regulation on digital services, it treats all the notifications received with objectivity, in a balanced way and with speed. As regards the notifications received from two of the political actors involved in the election campaign, ANCOM specifies that it has requested clarifications regarding the measures taken by the petitioners from which the conduct of the very large online platforms and the observance of the obligations that are based on the legislation of digital services, taking all the legal measures according to their own competences. ANCOM treated the two notifications with the same speed, however, differing the response time of the political actors (24, 74 hours respectively) at the request of the Clarification Authority.

ANCOM also informs that he has sent his answer to the two notifications received. At the same time, ANCOM specifies that he has notified the big platforms and the European Commission regarding the complaint with on the merits of altering the visibility on the big platforms, following that in the case of the other ANCOM complaints to take the necessary measures to notify the great online platforms relevant according to the possible information that he will receive from the BEC, in his quality.

ANCOM recalls that, during the election campaign, according to the legislation in force in the electoral field, persons identifying online political advertising materials on very large online platforms can transmit complaints to the Central Electoral Bureau (BEC).

The regulation on digital services aims to prevent illegal and harmful activities in the online environment, following the safety of users, protecting their fundamental rights and creating a fair and open environment for intermediate service providers. The regulation establish, among other things, the conditions under which the providers of intermediate services in the European Union can receive notifications regarding the existence in the online environment of some contents, goods or services.
