Two national champions in athletics in Ungheni – the angle – see the world as it is!
The athletes from Ungheni continue to achieve remarkable results on a national level. At the Championship of the Republic of Moldova of athletics, the senior category, two athletes trained by Mihai Grosu climbed the highest step of the podium.
Ecaterina Cernat obtained the first place in the 5000 -meter test, a special performance, especially in the context of her return after a trauma and a break in training. Gheorghe Buzulan won the gold medal at the 3000 -meter obstacle sample, a sample that he competed for the first time.
« I am proud of these athletes. The victory of Ecaterina, after a difficult time, proves perseverance and character. Gheorghe surprised everyone at the first participation in a very demanding test. I am sure that they have the potential to achieve beautiful results and internationally, » coach Mihai Grosu told us.
As a result of these successes, both athletes were included in the national group of the Republic of Moldova to participate in the European team championship, which will take place on June 24-25, in Maribor, Slovenia. Also, Ecaterina Cernat will represent the Republic of Moldova at the World University Games, scheduled between July 16 and 27, in Rin-Rehn, Germany.
At the same national competition, two other athletes from Ungheni had worthy evolutions. Olga Lupu ranked fourth in the 1500 -meter test, and Ana Cojocaru – in the sixth place in the same test.
And the juniors from Ungheni were noted. Ion Baran, Ion Pîrțac and Culic Arteoma have surpassed their personal records, demonstrating constant progress in sports training.
The participation of the athletes from Ungheni in the Championship of the Republic of Moldova for athletics for seniors was possible due to the support given by the City Hall of Ungheni.
