In Belgium, 53 children were conceived by the sperm donor who had a gene that caused cancer. Earlier this week there were 51 children, but the Federal Agency for Medicines and Health Products (FAGG) reports on Saturday that a fertility center has reported that not three but five children were being conceived with four different women.

That this information is only now becoming known, « despite earlier messages and questions, » the Fagg regards « very serious ».

The Fertility Center, whose name is not announced, reported on Friday to the FAGG that two additional children were conceived by them. On 28 May, however, the center confirmed that two women were involved, which had resulted in three children. That information was confirmed again on Tuesday, but on Friday it reported that the file was incomplete.

The two recently identified women have been informed.

Fagg inspectors already went on the spot for an inspection. That procedure has not yet been completed, the FAGG still reports.

Federal Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke (Vooruit) said on Wednesday in the Chamber that 53 children were conceived in Belgium, of which there was a miscarriage in two cases. The children were processed in 37 women, 14 of whom live in Belgium. The new info is therefore a total of 55 pregnancies with 39 women.
