Two earthquakes in Romania


Two earthquakes took place on Thursday morning in the Seismic area Vrancea, Buzau County, informs the National Institute for Research and Development for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

According to the quoted source, the first earthquake took place at 3:08, had a magnitude of 3 degrees and produced at a depth of 125.8 km. The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 50 km northwest of Buzău, 63 km west of Focșani, 64 km southeast of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 66 km east of Brașov, 69 km northeast of Ploiești and 99 km northeast of Târgoviște.

The second earthquake took place at 3:45 local, with a magnitude of 3.4 degrees and at a depth of 144.4 km. The earthquake occurred near the following cities: 56 km northwest of Buzău, 59 km southeast of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 61 km west of Focșani, 63 km east of Brașov and 75 km northeast of Ploiești.

In the month of May, in Romania there were 18 earthquakes, with magnitude between 2 and 4.4 degrees on Richter.

The largest earthquakes this year, both with the magnitude 4.4, took place on February 13, in Buzău county, and on May 11 in Vrancea county.

Last year, the most important earthquake had a magnitude of 5.4 and occurred in Buzau County, on September 16.
