Two bears in Zakopane. Tourists stood like enchanted, the police arrived
Two prosperous bears came to the Kuźnicka clearing at the weekend – right next to the busy route leading to the queue to Kasprowy Wierch. This is one of the most popular places in Zakopane. Sheep usually graze there, but this time completely different creatures jammed the grass. People rubbed their eyes in amazement.
On Saturday and Sunday (April 12 and 13), teddy bears walked on a slope just 100-150 meters away from the crowded pavement. Tourists immediately pulled out the phones. Pictures and videos appeared in social media. Some tried to approach closer, as if it was a show in the zoo, not wild animals!
Police and city guard were called in, to prevent dangerous situations. – Bears do not attack people for no reason, but if they feel threatened, they can react violently – they remind naturalists from the Tatra National Park.

Naturalist Tomasz Zając. In an interview with PAP, he emphasizes that spring is a time when bears are hungry and more active. – They are looking for food, sometimes they come close to human housing estates. They are attracted by smells and rubbish. But they are still wild and unpredictable – says the expert.
Foresters and services appeal: do not approach, do not feed, do not run, do not take photos up close. If you see a bear, move away calmly and do not pay attention to yourself.
In the case of kuźnice, there were no dramas. Predators remained calm, and people … not everyone. Fortunately, this time it ended in delight, not fear.
