Two adults and baby died in traffic accident on E313: Trucker noticed file too late (Herentals)
Three people died in the heavy traffic accident on Wednesday afternoon on the E313 in Herentals. According to our information, it is a family from Germany, a parents and a young child. The family’s car was crushed between two trucks.
The accident happened on Wednesday around 4 pm on the territory of Herentals. According to the first findings, there was a traffic jam on the E313 in the direction of Antwerp. The driver of a truck noted this traffic jam too late and was run into the BMW of the German family at the back.
The car was largely under the vehicle in front, a truck combination tractor-trailer, pushed. It was immediately clear that the situation was very serious.

« The accident had just happened when I passed, » says a witness. « I stopped on the breakdown lane and walked to the car to offer help, but I could do nothing. The car was completely trapped. It was a special face. That image will linger for a while. » According to a care provider, one of the adults was killed instantly.

The driver gave a sign of life. Only later did it become clear that there was also a child to the victims. « I have not seen the crash itself, but the man who caused the accident may not have inhibited, » says the witness.
« The man was completely off the map, but that does not have to be surprised. There was indeed a traffic jam towards Antwerp, but unexpectedly that traffic jam was certainly not. A speed limit was indicated on the signs above the highway and the traffic was braking. »
Ekeren
Due to the accident, the E313 was blocked for hours. The file reached past yellow. A few hours before the drama in Herentals, a similar accident had already happened in Ekeren, in which a car ended up under a truck. Fortunately without a fatal outcome.
