TV review When the earth is crushed, the Songfestival continues on a spaceship

Just before the earthly song festival erupted on Saturday, the interstellar song festival was shown on BBC 1. This will only take place in 900 years, but the British science fiction series Doctor WHO already reported on it. The earth has since been pulverized, the show continues on a spaceship. Gaza was everywhere again, this weekend on television. The controversial candidate Israel almost won the Songfestival, partly due to the support of the Dutch voters, who rewarded the vocal performance of the country with the full twelve points. To compensate for that, one hundred thousand people went to the street in the red on Sunday afternoon in The Hague to demonstrate against the murder of the Palestinians. There were also the reports of a new Israeli offensive. With the latter, the difference stood out in between RTL News (RTL 4) and the Eight -hour journal (NPO 1). RTL just described what happened while the NOS is still trying to keep Israel out of the report. Example sentence: « Houses were hit. »

Dutch defenselessness

Just until here (NPO 1) left Israel and Gaza. In this season finale, the duo Jeroen Woe and Niels van der Laan did deal with the bad presentation of Belgium at the Songfestival – to bully their Flemish pianist Miguel. Most attention was paid to the approaching NATO summit and the problems of the government to pump up the defense budget. The duo sang the Dutch defenselessness in a song about the inflatable fake tanks that the army uses to fool the Russians. In the way of the Swedish song festival song they sang « Ohohohoho, blow things up! »

In Danny on the street (NPO 2) Razing Reporter Danny Ghosen once again showed why he was nominated for the silver Nipkow disc. In a diptych about Hungary, he treats the scapegoat policy of President Orbán who always attacks a new group in order to further limit the fundamental rights. After the migrants, the Roma and the journalists, it’s the turn of the Gays. It is not desirable to throw Hungary out of the EU due to this misconduct, say the Hungarians he speaks, for that drives the country further into Putin’s arms.

Ghosen speaks oppressed parliamentarians, journalists and gay activists. He also visits a demonstration for LGBTQ rights. He will follow this with interviews with Dutch people who live in Hungary. Especially in the first part they were radical right -wing farmers who fled ‘left’ the Netherlands. It provides a kind of grim variant of I leave. With those interviews, Ghosen brings the subject closer to home.

In the first part, a Hungarian journalist already pointed to the friendship between Orbán and « that crazy guy » from the Netherlands. « You mean Geert Wilders? » Helps Ghosen. Yes that. « He learns from Orbán how to destroy the journalistic ecosystem and ultimately democracy. »
