TV review The romance between WNL and VVD provided uncomfortable TV, luckily Raven van Dorst offered distraction

Love goes through the stomach, so WNL was handing out chocolate on the VVD Congress. Needless, you would think: the marriage was already settled when VVD spindoctor Kees Berghuis signed for the position of WNL editor-in-chief, now about a month ago. But a healthy relationship requires attention and commitment; Small gifts and repeated confirmation. WNL understands that and likes to show itself a good lover. Thus: chocolate.

The warm presence of the broadcaster was Shot shot-presenter Roel Maalderink did not miss out. Saturday he set one movie Online in which he asked the WNL employees if this promotion was an idea from Berghuis. No, a man in the Orange WNL shirt said: this idea came « from Eva, from the VVD itself ». (Just Googling shows that there is indeed an event manager working at the VVD called Eva.) « He invited us to do recruitment and selection for WNL here. » The broadcaster had a hard time, he explained because of the cuts on the NPO. He did not mention that the VVD is partly responsible for those cuts. Maybe he had no eye for that at all. They also say that about love: it makes blind.

That is why the editors of WNL on Sunday Probably not seeing that the guest composition stood out this weekend. The extra long episode was dominated by the NATO summit in The Hague. To discuss Dutch security, four people were invited with functions that indeed matched the subject: the commander of the armed forces, the mayor of The Hague, the outgoing minister of Foreign Affairs and the National Coordinator of Terrorism and Security. And then there was a fifth guest: the party leader of the VVD. Because ‘safety’ also starts with a ‘v’, I think.

And now that Dilan Yesşilgöz was there anyway, we could just as well watch a fragment from the party congress. « There you opened the attack on … Frans Timmermans! », Said presenter Rick Nieman. Yesşilgöz looked calmly, the images of how she had once again raised an alarm about « the extreme, left-radical and activist part in the supporters of GroenLinks and PvdA ». In this way WNL’s NATO top special could also be nicely about how dangerous the political opponents of the VVD are. Everything is permitted in love, war and campaign time, we will say. But after a weekend witnessed to preliminate with chocolate and extra safe mating dancing, I had seen more of this sticky romance than I was sweet.

Pent -up frustrations

Fortunately, Raven van Dorst introduced a wonderful program of a completely different order that evening: Pearls for the pigs (BNNVARA). The presenter usually invites Dutch celebrities to his farm, but in this new format unknown Dutch people get a stage. On that stage they are allowed to do (almost) everything they want: in cowboy clothing poems dedicate to demented fathers, with a hoarse smoking voice others call on not to smoke, taoism, representing Taoism as a solution for a poor sex life – et cetera.

The highlight of the first episode was Jacqueline, who liked to abandon her pent -up frustrations. The ‘rod room’ was therefore rigged especially for her: a room in which the entire interior came from the bulky waste. Jacqueline, Klein in Start, was dressed with a apron, a helmet and a basebal cotton. First, she was surprisingly targeted a portrait of Leonardo DiCaprio van de Wall (with squeezed eyes: « That is the dick »), then she pulled through the rest of the room like a tornado.

I watched with morbid interest how she carefully hit a TV. « Y! », Called from Dorst encouragingly. « Y! Kapót! » Would you regret that afterwards, I wondered. But when the entire room was shattering, Jacqueline only gasped: « Hey. What Lékker. »
