TV review ‘Good evening the Netherlands’ takes a different approach: the presenters sit opposite each other

« Well Sam, » said Welmoed Sijtsma. « Tumultuously day, to start immediately. » « Yes, » Sam Hagens said with radiant eyes. « As if he had planned it for us: Geert Wilders came this afternoon with a press conference! » The flags were not yet hung in the studio of the new WNL talk show Good evening Netherlands. In the afternoon, Wilders had convened journalists for a very special occasion. He would nominate from his Magnum Opus: ‘Collected Tweets, 2009-2025’. But he himself prefers to call it a press conference, and out of respect for Grote Geert, that term was widely taken over.

Hagens knew nothing about the ‘press conference’ when he looked up in the morning at the first episode of Good evening Netherlands. He did that in Good morning Netherlandsbecause that also exists. Since Hagens and Sijtsma move on to the evening in the summer months, Fidan Ekiz and Wieger Hemmer were allowed to present the WNL morning show. « Sammieeee, » Ekiz shouted when Hagens’ head appeared very large on a screen in the studio. « An example of how we are going to do something different than other talk shows, » Hagens then explained, « is that we get one subject out of it. Something that often passes by with other talk shows is the democratic constitutional state; that it comes to an end in America. Important subject, people are worried about that. For example, I would rather look at what kind of effect has been with Welation with Watchmoedation with Watchmoedation. The border with Mexico is it almost zero. Between the good morning and the good evening there was a good afternoon to bridge, but that gap was filled by Wilders who threatened to drop the cabinet if all kinds of migration -related requirements were not met very quickly. « The border has been reached, » the requirement package was called. That would be the bitter joke of the century: if it is ultimately Wilders that decision that the limit was reached. Not his government partners, who kept sagging with him by moral lower limits to eventually be waved goodbye to the PVV leader who is not previously explored-because his border has been reached.

The rest of the day the requirements package was treated in talk shows and journals. There was often a political clarity that had the clarity of spirit to mention one of Wilders’ main motives for the ‘press conference’: the PVV drops in the polls. In a way, repeating his requirements came down to cooperating on Wilders’ diversion maneuver. But once that was mentioned, Wilders’ words still had to be carefully discussed.

Veterinary

Around nine o’clock there was another well -known PVV member on TV: in Veterinary (On!) Dion Graus has been beating animal lovers since Monday – you guessed it – veterinary knights. Furthermore, the program is surprisingly grim; A kind of low budget Alberto Stegeman concept, but with less coherence. Or maybe it seemed like that because of my own inadequate concentration – I always had to think about how Hagens and Sijtsma would not be sitting, but each other.

Just after Tienen the duo was finally there. Mona Keijzer was also there and was allowed to talk about Wilders’ press moment. « Are you waiting for this? » Asked Hagens. « No, but eh, I eh, sitting anyway, never eh, waiting for eh, » said Keijzer. « On Geert Wilders? » Hagens asked. Again those glittering eyes. She didn’t deny it. « We already have a great quote! », Hagens cheese now, while the laughter sucked around him. « Mona Keijzer is never waiting for Geert Wilders at all!
