TV 2 with great King Frederik NEW: They have to control the battle
Around the routes in Denmark
In order to gain a thorough knowledge of the routes in the Royal Run and reduce the distance from the TV studio in Copenhagen to, for example, Ribe has been visiting the host cities in advance.
Here he has either gone, run or cycled through the routes, so he knows every turn and street corner that rolls across the screen along the way.
– It’s about being able to convey a mood, and it’s easier when you’ve been there yourself, so you know exactly what it is for some impressions the runners get on the route, says Morten Ankerdal.
He is doing the research of the routes voluntarily when he is still around the country to cover various sporting events for TV 2.
– I would like to get some of those who have been responsible for the route planning to join. Then I hear the stories of all that has been with the planning so that the route has become as it is. After all, it’s not like you just sit down and draw some strokes on a card, and then it becomes the route. There have been many considerations back and forth about what the narrative should be in each city. And it just gets a lot more authentic when I’ve been out meeting the people who have stood with it, says Morten Ankerdal.
From the starting lines and finishes of the host cities, TV 2 is well covered with reporters, which get reactions from Danes of all ages. In the host towns, runners and viewers can meet Stine Bjerre Mortensen, Adam Duvå Hall, Louise Wolff, Camilla Slyngborg, Mikkel Kryger, Abdel Aziz Mahmoud, Rasmus Staghøj, Marie Rønde, Michael Kragelund and Brian Lindhoff. The latter even takes a run along the way with, among others, TV 2’s cycling expert Nicki Sørensen.
Royal Run is organized by the sports vision ‘Move for Life’ – a collaboration between the Danish Sports Association, DGI and Danish Athletics. TV 2 Denmark is a media partner at the Royal Run, and the TrygFonden, the Nordea Foundation and the Novo Nordisk Foundation are strategic partners.
