– We decided today together with Minister Siekierskithat we will intensify controls on the border with Slovakia, but also with the Czech Republic of Germany so that (…) preventively, preventively examine and control all transports that reach Poland – said on Tuesday, April 1, after the government’s meeting, Prime Minister Donald Tusk. He emphasized that transports from the regions covered by the pimples will not be allowed to our country at all.

The head of government said that the previous actions are effective and in Poland no case has been found so far (our country has remained free from this disease since 1971), but the situation behind our borders is serious.
German veterinary services, which at the beginning of January identified the first case of pimples from 37 years on a farm about 70 km from the border with Poland, informed in February about the examination of 7,000. samples, without confirming the next foci of the disease. The related restrictions have already been lifted, but – in accordance with the decision European Commission – Until April 11 this year. There is still a buffer zone.
The second bonfire of the pimples – as reported on Wednesday, on March 26, the Polish Veterinary Inspection – in turn, confirmed in Hungary near the contact of Austrian, Czech and Slovak borders.
However, the most serious situation is at our southern neighbors. Slovakia authorities on March 25, due to the pimples, introduced a state of emergency in the country.

In connection with this situation, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Czesław Siekierski on Friday, March 21 signed a regulation and decided to close Poland to the import of selected goods from Slovakia. These provisions are to apply until the European Commission is adopted.
The Veterinary Inspection together with the Police, the National Tax Administration and the Road Transport Inspectorate conducts at border crossings inspections of animal and products transports, and these activities are to be intensified.
– The services will do everything in their power to make this control effective and protect us against the pimples – said Donald Tusk in Tuesday (April 1).
Minister Siekierski headed a special staff, which is to prepare Poland for various circumstances related to the possibility of expanding the outbreaks of this disease. According to the head of the Ministry of Agriculture, the threat of a pimples is very seriousespecially since the virus moves easily and in various ways.
Although the pimples are not dangerous to man, people can get infected with it. This occurs as a result of direct contact with a sick animal and its secretions, as well as by consuming unpasteurized products from infected animals.
When animals fall on it (mainly cattle, pigs, sheep and goats, but also wild boars, deer or roe deer), it is very dangerous. In the event of an outbreak of the disease on the farm, they must all be broken.
