Turkish regime takes the help of the Kurdish left in the fight against opposition
President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s closest partner, right -wing extremist MHP leader Devlet Bahceli, has revealed in two newspaper articles how the regime will navigate in the future. On the one hand, he writes, is a comprehensive democratic reforms on the road, and on the other, the constitution will be rewritten so that all citizens, not just « Turks », as now, are guaranteed fundamental rights. But Social Democratic CHP, which organized the protests, will be treated without pardon.
Bahceli threatens CHP by force: « What happens if the protesters encounter other protesters – and who will then stop the violence between them? »
Turkey connoisseur Halil Karaveli:
-This is not empty threats from Bahceli’s side, but a direct allusing of the 1970s wave of violence, when MHP’s paramilitary branch « The gray wolves » murdered left people.
The tactics of the regime, according to Karaveli, is a tumultuous new orientation:
– The plan is to crush the Social Democratic CHP and instead settle with the Kurdish left and its party them. The great thing is that the leaders, who have been persecuted, imprisoned and deposed from their mayor posts, are included in the notes. Erdogan and Bahceli hope that the concessions to the Kurds will save the regime in the next election.
Even Dem’s ideological leader Selahatin Demirtas has, from his prison cell applauded the development and talked about « a strong Turkey », with several opinions that no one would have associated with him.
Before the Bayram holiday, Dem leaders met with the regime’s representatives and exchanged congratulations-scenes that make political assessors rub in the eyes of amazement.
Erdogan has previously shown That he has no fundamental objections to Kurds and their leaders – he began the most ambitious peace process ever with terrorist PKK. But can the left-wing Kurdish leaders in them rely on MHP leader Devlet Bahceli, who has devoted his entire long career to counteracting and denying Kurdish rights?
