Turkish President Erdogan: We will continue to increase our efforts for the recognition of the TRNC – Cyprus Newspaper

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan answered the questions of journalists on the plane on his return to Italy. Erdogan made important statements about the Cyprus issue that came up again after the last agreements signed with the European Union and the relations of the Turkish States Organization with the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC).

President Erdoğan stated that the Teknofest team will organize events in Cyprus this weekend and announced that he would visit the TRNC on Saturday. Erdogan, « Northern Cyprus, you know a magnificent Parliament building and the Presidential building. Both of the works to be envied. We are starting to work for the construction of judicial buildings, » he said.

Emphasizing that investments for the TRNC are not limited to buildings, Erdogan said that the face of the island has changed with nation gardens and various social equipment.

Repeating the perspective of the solution of the Cyprus issue, Erdoğan said, “We think that we can leave historical problems behind with a two -state solution on the island of Cyprus, and we advance our work in this direction.” Stating that the TRNC will continue to increase the efforts of Türkiye for the international recognition, Erdoğan said, “As Türkiye, we will never leave the TRNC alone and orphaned,” he said.

Erdogan said that the defense of the Turkish Cypriot people on every platform is a historical and human responsibility for Türkiye and that they are determined to fulfill the requirements of this responsibility. Erdogan also said he believes that the Turkish World will continue to stand by the TRNC.
