The Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent joined the 38th session of the International Hilal Islamic Committee of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

According to a statement from the Northern Cyprus Red Cyprus, the 38th session of the International Hilal Islamic Committee was held in Tunisia on May 26-27.

The session stated that decisions were made to strengthen regional and international humanitarian mechanisms.

Cypriot Red Crescent President Sezai Sezen, Uhik President Ali Mahmoud Bouhademah, Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Palestine, Tunisia, Senegal and Guinea made bilateral contacts with Red Crescent and Red Cross officials.

During the negotiations, the integration of the Turkish Cypriot Red Cyprus into the international humanitarian network, corporate capacity development and increasing common operation areas, the collaboration of the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent Friends Group on the future road map and leadership structure were evaluated.

In the International Hilal Islamic Committee, the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent Friends Group reported a call to the Red Crescent and Red Cross associations in OIC member states to carry out joint humanitarian activities with the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent.

The report emphasized the implementation of the “observer” status known to the Turkish Cypriot Red Crescent in the International Red Cross and Red Crescent movement.

Chairman Sezen, Uhik’s open and strong support, the Turkish Cypriot Red Cypriot has a great meaning for the institutional existence of the Turkish Cypriot, he said:

“To represent the Turkish Cypriot Red Cyprus on a prestigious and effective platform such as the International Hilal Islamic Committee is a manifestation of the confidence heard by the International Humanitarian Relief Community. Decisions taken in the session are of great importance to increase the visibility and influence of the Turkish Cypriot Red Cyprus. The reinforcement of the role of the Red Crescent has been instrumental in looking at the future and we will continue our contribution to both our region and the global humanitarian system.
