The Ida-Viruma police investigate two cases of fraud, as a result of which the elderly residents of the region lost significant amounts of money. Under the guise of police, mail and banks, attackers lured a total of almost 9 thousand euros from victims.

Fraud

On April 3, a 83-year-old woman was called a person who introduced himself as a police officer and said that her grandson was in a traffic accident, and a large amount of money was required to treat the victim in the accident. The woman wrapped 2350 euros in a towel and handed them to an unfamiliar man who came to her house. Details of fraud are established in the framework of criminal proceedings.

Computer fraud

On April 3, the 59-year-old man was allegedly called an employee of Omniva, saying that the man was sent to the man, and asked his personal code supposedly for identification. After that, a man called a man who introduced himself as an employee of Swedbank, who said that several applications for a loan were issued in the name of the man, and to cancel them, it is necessary to follow the instructions of the caller. As a result, a loan on Bondora was issued in the name of the man. The representative of the Bank convinced the man to withdraw money and transfer it to two different bank accounts.
