Trump's regulation becomes the official language of the United States
Several organizations warn against impacts.
Washington. US President Donald Trump On Saturday he signed the executive regulation, which recognizes English as the only official language of the United States.
Until now, English has been recognized as an official language in only 32 countries of the US Union, and at the federal level there was no such adjustment.
Only in English
The new Trump's regulation allows the authorities to communicate with citizens exclusively in English. It is thus disturbed by the Regulation of President Bill Clinton, according to which official documents should be made available in other languages to help US citizens with a weaker knowledge of English.
Although English is by far the most widespread language in the US, many authorities also publish their documents in Spanish, the second most widespread language used in the US.
They are satisfied in the Kremlin. US foreign policy is increasingly similar to Russian Read
The Trump Regulation states that the establishment of English as an official language not only streamlines communication, but also strengthens the common national values and efforts for a cohesive and more efficient society.
It also states that learning English helps immigrants to establish themselves in the labor market, participate in the community, acquire national traditions and be beneficial to society.
However, several organizations warned that this decision could be abused to exclude children from communities from schools.
A representative of the Hakeem Jeffries House of Representatives pointed out that, like many of Trump's orders, this regulation must be analyzed in order to be certain that it is in accordance with US laws and the constitution. If a contradiction is found, the decree must be challenged in court, he added.
Anabel Mendoz from the United We Dream Youth Movement, in turn, has accused Trump that « she wants to paint a target on the backs of black and non -white immigrants and communities that speak different languages ». « We won't tolerate it, » she said.
The language of America
The New York Times noted that Trump's decree is the victory of the movement that fights to restrict bilingual education in the United States and to reduce immigration.
Trump's supporters welcome this regulation. « It's a significant step, » a conservative political activist Charlie Kirk wrote on the social network. In his opinion, « recognition of English as the language of America in the era of mass immigration speaks a lot of national unity. »
DPA added that a few hours after Trump returned to the presidential office on January 20, it was removed from the White House website Spanish version of the version.
The most widespread language in the US is reportedly English, which speaks there 245 million people. The second place is the Spanish language, which uses 42 million people. The third place is Chinese with several of its main dialects – it has 3.4 million users.
