However, other moods have recently been widespread in our society. In December 2024, 54% of Ukrainians surveyed believed Trump’s victory in the presidential election is a good for our country. And 45% of respondents thoughtthat his election is really approaching peace.

Unfortunately, much of us was in the same mental trap as two years ago: when millions of Ukrainians were convinced that the Great War would end in 2023, and associated its completion with the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces. The more confident Ukrainian officials and numerous experts have promised the de-occupation of Donbass and Crimea in 2023, the more realistic this prospect looked realistic. Can not authoritative people in Kiev just throw words into the wind?

And the more confidently chosen US president and his associates spoke about the rapid completion of the Russian-Ukrainian war, the more realistic this scenario seemed realistic. If the peace is « in 24 hours » or « in 100 days » promised with such an Apple, then, apparently, the White House has not only a clear plan of action, but also mechanisms for its implementation? Can’t big people in Washington just throw words into the wind?

No, as it turned out, they can.

The 2023th proved to our fellow citizens that happiness propaganda is completely detached from objective reality. And the 2025th demonstrated that the samopiar of a new American leader was as detached from reality.

The ambitious and persistent king from the White House was naked. So naked that he even sacrificed his own demand for an immediate cease ceasefire in Ukraine – changing this initiative for one vain telephone conversation with Putin.

It cannot be said that the tumultuous peacekeeping activity of Trump and Ko did not produce any results and has not changed anything at all. Changes, of course, are. But mostly negative.

On the one hand, Trump managed to give many Ukrainian residents a false hope for the rapid end of the war or at least its hot phase. And false hope is always bad. It demotivates and disarmed. It prompts you to relax when you need to collect all your strength and all the will into your fist. It gives rise to painful disappointment and frustration.

We have already passed all this after the failure of the advertised Ukrainian counter -offensive. Fortunately, at the beginning of 2025, the hope for a fast peace did not become as mass as in the early 2023: and the failure of the peacemaker-Trump beats on the domestic moral spirit is not as strong as our own army last year.

On the other hand, the awkward peacekeeping of Trump gave the Kremlin hope for new military achievements. It is the hope that Russia will be able to continue aggression against Ukraine, provided that the United States is self -eliminating – and reach much more than 2025.

Demonstrating their own fatigue from another’s war, the Americans got an effect opposite to the expected. In the White House, they were going to seduce Putin with a son in his hands – freezing armed confrontation at Moscow favorable conditions. But as a result, the Russian dictator is only argued in the opinion that the continuation of hostilities will allow him to get the desired crane in the sky.

Some positive points in this situation are difficult to see. However, they are. There are a few tablespoons of honey in Donald Trump.

First. The events of recent months have had a beneficial effect. If one of our fellow citizens was still in the illusions, they were reduced. If it was difficult for someone to look at things soberly, Trump’s activities significantly facilitated this task.

It became apparent that there are no good magicians in the world who will solve all Ukrainian problems, eliminate Putin, break up Moscow, bring us back Crimea and Donbas. Moreover, even a conditional « Korean scenario » with freezing of hostilities will not serve Kiev on a saucery with a blue border – for such a finale of a full -scale war will also have to fight.

Second. In history with infertile peace talks, official Kiev managed to find the right positioning. The readiness to cease fire without prior conditions, which Ukraine has announced in March, really looks good.

What could be more logical than just stop shooting? What clearly demonstrates that Kyiv is interested in keeping bloodshed? Moreover, this demonstration is addressed not only by Washington or the Global South, but also by the part of Ukrainian society that was tired of the war and was ready to blame its own management of its artificial tightening.

And finally, the third. Against the backdrop of the unsuccessful American peacekeeping, Ukraine seems to have grown up a strategy for further war. The same realistic strategy that we have been so lacked lately.

In 2022–2023, domestic plans were associated with ousting the enemy from all occupied Ukrainian territories. Unfortunately, there was no unsuccessful counter -offensive.

But instead of adaptation to the new military reality, Ukraine continued to inertia to exploit the former guidelines and propaganda slogans. And only in 2025 in Kiev there was a new approach to confrontation with Moscow.

For the last few months, Russia has not stopped until the military situation has become a pathogen. And our task is to achieve such a paat.

If the Armed Forces now insufficiently for the liberation of Donetsk, Lugansk or Mariupol, then the enemy must make sure that he does not seek to capture Kherson, Zaporozhye or Sumy.

If Ukraine is not able to destroy the Russian regime, then the enemy must realize that it will not be able to collapse our state from the inside.

This is the only way to prove the Kremlin that the continuation of military aggression is unpromising and meaningless.

Today it is the only chance to complete the war – whether its hot phase is on the conditions acceptable to Kiev. And the realization of this chance depends primarily on the efforts of the Ukrainians themselves. Even if the same Donald Trump, all the peacekeeping laurels, be a loved one.
