Trump’s 79th birthday passed in the shadow of mass protests: ‘They were the greatest in America history!’

According to the organizers, protests were held in more than 2,000 locations across the US, with participation between 4 and 6 million people, which could be the largest one-day protest in the history of the country.
At the center of the protest wave was the « No Kings » movement, which brings together more than 200 organizations, including ACLU, trade unions and civic associations. Central message: rejection, according to Trump’s authoritarian tendencies and abuse of power.
The main protest was held in Philadelphia, a symbol of the American struggle for freedom, while numerous local actions were held across the country-from Los Angeles, where a huge balloon with Trump’s character in diapers, to Anchorage, Alaska, where banners wore messages such as: « The only king we want is a salmon. »
Despite the extent of the protest, the events mostly went quiet. The exception is an incident in Virginia, where a man tried to get into a vehicle with a protesters, but no one was injured. A day earlier, 60 people were arrested for trying to break the barricades near Capitol.
The Washington military parade, which Trump has announced for years as a symbol of American power, has caused sharp criticism of opposition and civic associations, which consider it a dangerous political spectacle and abuse of armed forces for the pre -election purposes.
The White House, on the other hand, diminishes the importance of protest. Trump’s communication director Steven Cheung said more than 250,000 people gathered on the parade and that « No Kings » was « miserablely visited ». However, independent estimates talk about a much smaller number, about 20,000 people in Washington itself.
Protests are the culmination of Trump’s increasingly pronounced dissatisfaction with the second term, especially after the recent decision to send 4,000 members of the National Guard and 700 Marines to Los Angeles, despite opposition to Governor California.
Analysts warn that such widespread resistance goes beyond the most intense protests from Trump’s first term. Since the beginning of the year, according to civil organizations, more than 15,000 protests have been recorded in the US, which is three times more than 2017.
