US President Donald Trump has told Ukrainian President Volodimir Greeneski in the Vatican that the United States, not Ukraine, will recognize Crimea as part of Russia – Axios reported.
« According to an unnamed source, Zelenski repeated during the meeting that he did not recognize Crimea as Russian, and Trump made it clear that he was not demanding it. The plan is for the United States to do so, not Ukraine ” – according to a US portal report.
Greenski also told the US leader that he was not afraid to make concessions to end the conflict, but that he would need pretty solid security guarantees, the portal reports.
Greenski used his 15 minutes with Trump at the Vatican to urge him to take a stronger attitude towards Putin and to re -priority to establish a ceasefire – two sources familiar with the issue told Axios.
In addition, according to one of the sources, during the conversation, Trump has put pressure on Zelenski as soon as possible to sign a rare minerals agreement between the United States and Ukraine.

Vatican’s talks on Pope Francis’ funeral came after the United States threatened to give up its efforts to mediate peace in Ukraine and after Trump condemned Greenski for his comments that Ukraine would not recognize Russian control over Crimea.
