The US Presidential Administration Donald Trump has canceled the requirements for hospitals, which obliged women to have abortions in urgent cases despite restrictions at the state level. Although medical institutions were not banned at all, the new rules were also not introduced.

This is reported Reuters and New York Times.

The opportunity to hold abortions, despite the ban on the state level, was contained in the requirements of the administration of the previous US President Joe Biden. In the 2022 document, medical professionals explained the provisions of the Federal Law.

Requirements were issued a few weeks after the US Supreme Court canceled Recognition by women of constitutional right to abortion.

The document stated that doctors were obliged to abort a woman if necessary to resolve an emergency medical situation or stabilize the patient’s condition.

The requirement was also extended to states where such procedures are forbidden because the federal law has more legal force.

The requirements concerned medical institutions involved in state health care programs Medicare and Medicaid, designed to help elderly people and low -income Americans.

Hospitals that violated the federal law were at risk of losing public funding.

Now the Center for State Programs stated that preliminary requirements, which have been approved under the presidency of Joe Baiden, do not reflect the policy of Trump’s administration.

They argue that « they will work on correcting any legal confusion and instability that caused the actions of the previous administration. »

« It actually gives the bright green light hospitals in red (conservative – ed.) States to refuse pregnant women who are in danger »– said the expert on medical law Lawrence Gosin.

At the same time, Trump says that the hospital still applies to the federal law, but did not explain what they mean.

« It is not just a cancellation of what Biden administration has done. (Decision) creates many questions without answers on how hospitals behave in the future. More confusion means greater risk, » – said Professor of California University Mary Siegler.

Earlier the media reportedthat the US Ministry of Defense has stopped providing medical assistance to a transgender military.
