Trump clarifies his intention on a third term

US President Donald Trump clarifies his intentions on a new term and Tiktok fate in an interview on Friday and broadcast on ‘Meet the Press with Kristen Welker’ on NBC News.

He was also asked if the Constitution is respected in the US, as the international press agencies relate.

Trump intends to teach the stake ‘of a great republic’

Donald Trump said he does not « want » a third term, but intends to teach the pole ‘to a great Republican’ after the four years spent at the White House.

« That’s not what I try to do, » he answered a question about the possibility of a third term, which the American Constitution does not allow.

« I want to spend four very good years and make room for someone else, ideally to a great Republican, » he added, although, since his return to the White House, he has alluded to the possibility of a third term.

The US president said he will extend the deadline of June 19 for Bytedance, based in China, to transfer Tiktok’s assets, the short video app used by 170 million Americans, if no agreement will be reached.

Trump said he has a ‘weakness’ for the app, after helping him win young voters in the 2024 presidential elections.
