Trump celebrate CIA’s success in the Middle East

The last major event of President Donald Trump’s visit to Saudi Arabia was the meeting with Syrian President Ahmed Al-Sharaa. It is a historical change in all the regional order and the latest consequence of the conflicts arising from the US in the region from George W. Bush administrations.

At the end of November 2024, the press in the region wrote that Al-Sharaa was killed in a raid of Russian aviation in Idlib. Now, former President Bashar al-Assad is in exile in Moscow, while Al-Sharaa talks to Donald Trump.

Trump shook hands with a jihadist who until yesterday was on the list of FBI, with a $ 10 million reward. This is while at the head of the US Information Community is Tulsi Gabbard, who seemed to forget that, in 2017, he proposed a law that prohibits the US government to fund terrorist organizations (including the one led by the current Syrian president).

« Trump’s meeting with Al-Sharaa is even more strange than the meeting of an American president with any of the Assad family members. Until December, the US government put $ 10 million on his head, because he was on the special list of global terrorists, » writes National Interest.

It may be a signal that the deep American state follows its plans, and this can also be valid in Ukraine and Russia Putin, beyond the apparent Trump-Putin and the game of peace for Istanbul. Immediately after the 2001 attacks, General Wesley Clark said that the US will attack and change governments in seven countries in the next five years, starting with Iraq, continuing with Syria, Leban, Libya, Sudan and Iran. The insurgency they faced the US in Iraq, and then Russia’s intervention in Syria changed the initial calendar, but not the basic strategy. Finally, it was a success of the Timber Sycamore of CIA and MI6 program, approved by Barack Obama, to change the regime in Syria. When Donald Trump met with the new Syrian president, in Libya, Tripoli, heavy battles were taken between the rival militia, after killing a leader. Libya is in chaos after the NATO supported revolt that led to the assassination of Muammar Gaddafi, in 2011. And some of the hardest consequences of chaos in Libya, Syria, Iraq and the Ukraine war are supported not by the US, but by European allies, with Germany in the forehead – the crisis of migration, energy.

Al-Sharaa suffers from a lack of legitimacy at least as great as the former President Bashar al-Assad, whom he had removed from power in early December. Al-Sharaa was appointed interim president by the Syria Military Command, in fact a conglomerate of Islamist militias funded more or less visible by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and other golf, but also by the CIA. Less than six months ago, Al-Sharaa was the leader of the Islamist group Hayat Tharir Al-Ham and controlled part of the Idlib region of Syria, the only de-escalation area negotiated by Turkey and Russia and which Moscow did not attacked to facilitate its occupation by the Syrian army loyal to the Assad regime. Towards the end of 2024, Al-Sharaa faces protests in Idlib, due to the authoritarian style of governance.

FBI had put a $ 10 million rewards on its head. Al-Sharaa, until a few months ago known as the war Abu Mohammed al-Jolani, was the leader Hayat Tahrir al Sham, an organization from the Al-Nusra front, created by Al-Sharaa in 2012, as an Al-Qaeda franchise and after an « internship » in the last terrorist organization. He promoted transnational jihadism until 2016, and in 2004 (when Al Sharaa was 22), Iraqi secret services had information that he is one of the deputies of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, Al-Qaeda leader in Iraq. His beginnings in Syria were as an emissary of the leader of the Islamic State Organization, Abu Bakr al-Bagdadi, after which he created the Syrian branch of Al-Qaeda, who was renamed until he became Hayat Tahrir al-Ham. In 2015, shortly before Russia’s intervention in the Syria war, the CIA helped this organization of Al-Sharaa to conquer the idlibe.

Donald Trump made the Al-Sharaa regime, the Saudi Crown Prince and the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan the biggest gift-lifting the sanctions meant to break the Assad regime. « The sanctions were brutal and played an important role-truly important-at their time. But now it’s time to shine. So, Syria. Show us something very special. »

In the plane that led him to the second destination of the tournament, in Qatar, Trump referred to the meeting with Al-Sharaa: « He is a young guy, a powerful type » with « a strong past » that now has the opportunity to stabilize Syria. « He has the opportunity to work for this. » Trump asked Sharaa to make peace with Israel and sign the Avraam agreements, through which several Arab states recognized Israel. The US President also asked the new leader in Damascus to protect and respect the religious minorities, especially in the context of the recent mass crimes against the Alawites, Druz and Christians in the Syrian coastal area and from some suburbs of Damascus.

« Trump told Al-Sharaa that he had the opportunity to do something historical for his country, » writes NBC. « He advised him to ask the terrorists to leave Syria and to deport the Palestinian terrorists, to help the US to prevent the Islamic State and take responsibility for the detention centers in which the terrorists of this organization, in the northeast of Syria. The 1974 agreement and invited American companies to invest in the exploitation of oil and gases in Syria. ”

The irony is that the meeting between Trump and the Syrian president on the FBI list took place in the US Summit – the Gulf Cooperation Council. The latter organization, which brings together the Golf Salafist monarchies played a major role in financing the jihadist movements against the Assad regime, with the support of Turkey. Qatar, the next destination of Trump’s tour hosted training camps for the Syrian free army, created with the support of Turkey.

Trump’s visit to Qatar comes more than 20 years since the last trip of a US president in this emirate. The US-Qatar relationship is on an upward course, after years in which the Doha regime was in conflict with Saudi Arabia because of the support shown to the Muslim brothers and the ambition to play a more important role in the Gulf Cooperation Council. In recent years, the Qatar has been involved in the « resistance axis » of Iran in the region, and this led to a pronounced approach.

« This is good for Israel, » said Donald Trump, after reporters asked him if Benjamin Netanyahu’s government is not a shadow cone in this movement of the US leader to the region. « To have a relationship like the one I have with these countries … I think it’s great for Israel, » Trump said.
