Trump blocked Israel’s plan to attack Iran’s nuclear sites / day
During the first Presidency of Trump in 2018, the US withdrew from the world’s superpower in 2015 and the Iranian agreement to restrict Tehran’s nuclear program. Washington is now trying to reach a new agreement.
On Saturday, the second round of Iran and the US nuclear transmissions will be scheduled to be attended by US special envoy Steve Vitkof and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Aragchi. The first round of talks with their participation took place last Saturday in the Oman capital Maskat. They were high -level US and Iran’s nuclear talks since the 2015 contract collapse.
In March, Trump sent a letter to Iran’s top leader Ajatoll Ali Hamen, calling on Tehran to start talks on its nuclear program and threaten to a military attack if Tehran’s refuses.
Trump administration officials New York Times revealed that Israel asked Washington’s help to attack Iran’s nuclear equipment in May.
The newspaper reported that this plan was considered for several months, but last week Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s visit to the White House, Trump, told the Israelis that he would not support the attack. Instead, the President publicly announced direct talks with Tehran.
Iran has always denied that it would try to get nuclear weapons, but have expanded its nuclear program since the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement.
Rafael Grosi, CEO of the International Nuclear Energy Agency (IAEA), warned this month that Iran was not far from getting nuclear weapons.
The latest IAEA report states that Iran has approximately 274.8 kilograms of uranium enriched up to 60%. Up to 90% enriched uranium requires nuclear weapons.
