Trump announces research into new taxes on electronics from China and denies tariff expression
US President Donald Trump writes on Sunday on his social media platform Truth Social that there No exception at all was made for the import duties on electronics from China.
« No tariff extraction was announced on Friday, » he writes. « During the upcoming ‘National Security Tariff Investigations’ we will look at semiconductors and the entire electronic delivery chain. »
From Trump’s messy message, it can be concluded that electronics from China are currently under the ‘fentanyl rate’ of 20 percent. That means that, as the White House announced on Friday, an exception was made of the towering ‘reciprocal rate’ of 125 percent, but that it also does not fall under the basic rate of 10 percent, As it seemed since then.
His Trade Minister, Howard Lutnick, said earlier on Sunday that crucial tech products from China and semiconductors will have to deal with new taxes in the coming two months.
« He says they are except for the reciprocal charges and will fall under the taxes for semiconductors who will probably follow within a month or two, » Lutnick explained to News channel ABC. « These are issues of national security that we should make in America. »
