Trump announced the sanctions on anyone who buys oil from Iran
US President Donald Trump said on Thursday that « any country or person » who buys oil or petrochemical from Iran will be immediately sanctioned, thus increasing the pressure on Tehran due to a negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program.
Anyone who does this « will not be able to do business with the United States of America in any way, in any form or form, » Trump wrote on the Truth Social Social Network.
China is the biggest buyer of Iranian oil.
Trump’s announcement comes after the fourth round of negotiations between Washington and Teheran is postponed to the Iranian nuclear program after being planned for Saturday.
Trump called Iran for negotiations and threatened military consequences if they did not succeed, saying that his central goal was to prevent Iran from the development of nuclear weapons.
But on Wednesday, the US Ministry of Finance imposed new sanctions on a series of companies in the United Arab Emirates, Turkey and Iran, accusing them of engaging in the Iranian Petrochemicals in third countries and helping Iran avoid sanctions.
A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry Esmaeil Baqaei condemned the sanctions of the US Ministry of Finance and threatened the consequences, according to the Iranian news agency IRNA.
So far, it is not clear whether Trump’s statement is related to additional sanctions from those of Wednesday.
According to the nuclear agreement, negotiated under the administration of former US President Barack Obama in 2015, Iran allowed the maximum enrichment of Uranus up to 3.67 percent and supplies up to 300 pounds.
After Trump withdrew the US from the agreement during his first term, Tehran also gave up his obligations. Enrichment has increased to 60 percent and inventories are now exceeding 8000 pounds.
Iran still claims that it does not develop a nuclear weapon program, but refuses to completely give up civil nuclear technology.
Tehran said he was ready to return to the 2015 technical requirements and reactivate the surveillance cameras of his nuclear plants and give them to the International Atomic Energy Agency.
In return, Iran demands that the US abolish sanctions that have pushed the country into a serious financial crisis.
Tehran hoped to re -establish the export of oil, his most important source of revenue, and to ensure the liberation of the frozen side of the property, which is estimated at more than $ 100 billion.
But if Washington manages to refuse the last customers of Iranian oil, the move could prove to be catastrophic for Iran.
