US President Donald Trump announced that the customs duty rate applied to steel imports will be increased from 25 percent to 50 percent.
Trump made statements about the steel industry at US Steel’s Pennsylvania facility.
Stating that the tariffs applied to steel imports will be increased, Trump said, “We will increase the customs duty applied to the steel imported to the USA from 25 percent to 50 percent.” he said.
Trump said that increasing steel tariffs will further guarantee the steel industry in the United States.
On February 10, US President Trump signed decrees to implement customs duties for 25 percent of steel and aluminum imports. These recipes entered into force on 12 March.

Trump recalled that the “steel industry’s head crown” US Steel said it would never allow it to be sold to foreigners without any protection for steel workers.
