Trump, about an unwanted end of negotiations: « You are some fools »
President Donald Trump has remained vaguely on a US deadline for potential peace agreement in Ukraine, following a cryptic ultimatum issued by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, DPA reports.
Asked on Friday at the White House, Trump said he wants to see a ‘very soon’ agreement.
However, he did not specify how many days this means. « There is no specific number of days, but we want to do it quickly, » Trump said.
At the same time, the president said that he is not interested in continuing US mediation efforts unless both sides are willing to reach a compromise.
‘If, for some reason, one of the two parties makes things very difficult, we will only say:’ You are fools. You are stupid, you are terrible people ‘and we will set aside. But let’s hope we won’t have to do this, « explained Donald Trump.
Asked if he will put an end to his support for Ukraine, the US president avoided a clear answer. He said he still believes in a negotiated solution to this problem. His priority is to put an end to the war, he stressed.
Trump rejected the idea that Russia could play with him. « No, no one is playing with me, » he insisted.
Previously, Rubio had stated that if no progress is made in the coming days, the US could suspend mediation efforts.
