Truls pressed – yet further in the World Cup

Truls Möregårdh and Anton Källberg are after great effort to the eighth finals in double in the table tennis World Cup.

There the French star duo, the brother couple Felix and Alexis Lebrun awaits.

Argentines Horacio CifuenteS and Santiago Lorenzo bit off properly in Monday’s 16-finals, quickly went up a 6-1 lead and finally won the first set by 15-13.

In the second, Anton Källberg and Truls Möregårdh switched up and won clearly by 11-2. The third set became more even again, but the Swedish duo won again, 11–8, after turning down 3–5 to 8–5.

However, Cifuentes/Lorenzo forced a fifth and decisive set via clear 11-5 in the fourth.

Then Möregårdh/Källberg lifted another level and played home the match with 11–6.

– It felt like the return game was going up and down a bit. It got some sometimes missing and a little better sometimes. Incredibly nice that the divorce became as good as it became, Källberg tells SVT.

Next opponent Become even more difficult: first -seeded Alexis and Felix Lebrun from France.

When the brothers Lebrun took the European gold in double last fall, it was after the final victory against Möregårdh/Källberg. At that time, the French were completely superior and won in three straight sets.

– It was, to say the least, tough at the European Championships and they are big favorites. They exercise double very often. It is clear that it will be tough. But we play good ping pong and hopefully we can give them a match, says Truls Möregårdh to SVT.
