Truffle hunts on Great Saturday and Easter Monday in Meteora
What connects the snowy owl to the characteristic yellow eyes to the Anguti – a rodent living in northeast South America? The golden eagle of Greece with a European albinism asvo? And what is the necessary « weapon » to chase a truffle in the woods?
The answers are at the most award -winning museum in Greece: the Museum of Natural History of Meteora and Mushroom Museum. Where 350 species of animals and 250 species of mushrooms, placed in dioces that represent their natural environment, are « recommended » to the general public, while attempting to raise awareness of the nature and the major problems it faces.
Visitors arriving at the Museum, located beneath the only geological landscape of Meteora, have the opportunity to « travel » from wetlands and mountain peaks to the Arctic Environment, but also « walk » in the woods and to be curious, among other things, the most difficult Truffle – that looks like a coral.
And if the route and the interesting tour of the two floors of the museum are gone the imagination and the mood for a walk in nature, then the truffle hunt, organized by the experienced people of the museum, is the ideal proposal.
In the forests of the area, specially trained dogs are looking for one of the most expensive underground fruits that nature produces: truffle. A special taste of a special taste, but it is enough to make it extremely valuable to the best restaurants on the planet.
The truffles found by specially trained dogs are cooked on the spot, in a truffle -macaroni, enjoyed by visitors. The outdoor meal is completed with a sweet spoonful of mushroom.
The next truffle hunts are scheduled for Good Saturday and Easter Monday.
