Truck pops through central reservation and vesses on E403 towards Kortrijk: Driver remains unharmed (Izegem)

The accident occurred for Tuesday evening around 8 p.m. A truck, loaded with a container, drove towards Bruges. The foreign -language driver, however, was suddenly startled by a blowout. The truck moved to the left and dragged a Mercedes Vito. Both vehicles popped through the central reservation. The truck tilted and caught fire.

Truck driver and unharmed

The emergency services arrived en masse. The truck driver was released with a fright and remained unharmed as by miracle. The driver of the Mercedes Vito and a passenger were slightly injured and were transferred to the hospital for a check -up. Another driver, whose car was damaged by debris of the accident, was slightly injured and was transferred to AZ Delta.

Enormous damage

In the meantime, the fire brigade was busy extinguishing the truck. There was detergent in it. A large, black cloud of smoke was far to be seen. The fire brigade quickly got the fire under control, but the damage to the truck is immense. Just like the Mercedes Vito, it had to be towed. The E403 was closed in both directions after the incident. The hoisting works may still take hours. In addition, large works on the central reservation are also needed.
