Triglav to the Italian Market Insurance Market

The Triglav Group, in collaboration with Prima Assicurazioni and Ageas, is starting to do business in the Italian car insurance market. This follows the strategic ambition of a greater international diversification of operations, both in terms of business and profitability sources. According to initial estimates, due to the new business, the full volume of the Group’s business will be significantly above the planned in 2025, while its impact on the profit or loss of the Group will be more important in the coming years, said Zavarovalnica Triglav.

The Triglav Group will cooperate with the Italian insurance company Prima Assicurazioni and the AGEAS RE reinsurance company, part of one of the largest European insurance groups, the Belgian Ageas Group on the Italian automotive insurance market. Prima is an fast -growing company Insurtech, which has been operating for ten years, has more than four million customers and occupies a leading place in the online sales market for automotive insurance in Italy.

Admission to the Italian car insurance market will make a significant contribution to the implementation of the Triglav Group’s strategy by 2030, as it will enable an important international diversification of profitability and the volume of business operations. In the middle term, the group expects the appropriate insurance-technical profitability of the new business, and with the higher insurance portfolio, additional investment returns.

The scope of the premiums harvest will be significantly higher

The Triglav Group estimates that in 2026 it will generate around EUR 400 million in business volume, which will represent up to 20 percent of Prime Insurance Portfolio in Italy. In 2025, this proportion will be temporarily higher, with the Triglav Group concluding an 80 % reinsurance contract with AGEAS RE.

Due to the new business, the Group will exceed the planned total volume of business by about a third in 2025, originally determined in the amount of over 1.8 billion euros, said Zavarovalnica Triglav.
