Trial against 36-year-old woman continued in Kumanovo court when she killed her husband and father-in-law in Kratovo
The hearing against 36-year-old Vangelica Ilijevska, who killed her husband and father-in-law in Kratovo, continued in the Kumanovo Basic Court. Two witnesses, neighbor and father of the defendant were heard at today's hearing. The defense of the defendant claims that Ilijevska acted in a necessary defense, while the prosecution seeks to be convicted under Article 123 of the Criminal Code.
The neighbor who lived a house next to the house next to the defendant in Kratovo said she knew the defendant. Her impression was that Ilijevska was a caring mother, pedantic, calm and quiet woman. The neighbor socialized more with the defendant's mother -in -law, had no intense association with Vangelica. Answering defense questions, the neighbor said that she often listened to quarrels with a high tone of the house where Vangelica lived with her husband, children and father -in -law and her mother -in -law. But she didn't know exactly what was happening. She recounted that while sitting on the terrace she saw the now deceased John, Vangelica's husband pushed her and chanted on their terrace. After the neighbor dropped a scream, he brought Vangelica into the house after which she heard nothing.
In another situation, when her grandchildren played with Vangelica's children, she noticed bruises on her face and advised her as older to take her children and go. She also noticed Vangelica's unusual behavior when she was inappropriately dressed and acted lost in winter, but did not know if the defendant visited a psychiatrist. In another situation while drinking coffee with the defendant's mother -in -law and another neighbor, they saw representatives of the Center for Social Work coming, her mother -in -law and said it was Vangelica's work. Answering the public prosecutor's question about the situation as she looked at the terrace whether she had reported to the police, she replied that she had told her the case of her extramarital husband, but he told her « to look at her job and not interfere with the affairs of the neighbors. » The neighbor said she had nothing wrong with John and other family members, who respected themselves as neighbors and said she had not seen John Pian.
Today was Vangelica's father, who said that at the beginning of the marriage union, the two lived with them at the Butel family home. The father described their marriage as a disastrous, hellish, adding that his daughter was constantly exposed to psychological and physical violence. The first year said was acceptable, followed by quarrels. He later said that John began to drink intensively after the birth of his nephew, « marriage no longer resembled a marriage. » He told his daughter that there was no need to stay in such a marriage. Later because of John's desire, they returned to his house in Kratovo.
Answering the defense questions he said that John had never let Vangelica come to his children at his home and came only once a year, but he also answered the questions of the lawyer's prosecutor's office once a year. He said that in one case the police brought his daughter beaten and he begged her to stay. She was calling her husband all the time, saying she had no one to care for the children and she left his house at five o'clock in the morning after three days. In the emotional testimony, his daughter said only 37 pounds after the unfortunate event. To the prosecution's questions, he told him that his son told him that John had beaten his daughter and that she was in the police. He returned from his neighbor where he was and found John crying and repeating what I did. In a casual conversation, the groom told him that « the woman is just for beating. » Asked by the lawyer of the injured party he said that Vangelica complained of the behavior of her mother -in -law and the evil, not so much of the father -in -law.
« And the neighbor and father said that despite the physical and psychological abuse, she remained married to children, confirming our thesis that it was a long -standing victim of domestic violence, for which there are decisions, decisions, medical documentation, judgments, which were punished for domestic violence, which unfortunately ended. I would like this to be the last example when long -standing victims of domestic violence will be left to the side of society, institutions and each of us as a citizen have both moral and personal and legal responsibility to protect and cover these victims, especially women and children – said lawyer Hristijan Georgievski.
At the first hearing, the defendant said that she had acted in a necessary defense. The public prosecutor said in an opening speech on June 13 this year Ilijevska killed her husband John and father -in -law Stojan with a knife. The prosecution remained at the indictment and to extend Vangelica's house arrest. The defense at the first hearing said that Ilijevska had been married for more than ten years and was a victim of domestic violence, physical and psychological abuse by all family members, mostly from her husband John. Earlier hearings were testified by the mother and wife of John and Stojan, as well as a family neighbor, were heard by skilled persons from psychiatry and a biological trace laboratory-DNA analysis of the Public Prosecutor's Office's proposal.
The next hearing is scheduled for April 9 this year and then witnesses and skilled persons will be heard on the defense proposal.
