Trendafilov: Only paid workers can be productive
The Federation of Trade Unions of Macedonia (CCM) maintains that not only the minimum, but also salaries in Macedonia in general should increase. According to CCM President Slobodan Trendafilov, the country is one of the countries in the region with the lowest and average and minimum wage, and the opposite side, government or employers has no hearing for a serious step.
– Workers in Macedonia are the lowest paid in the Balkans, not to mention Europe. Unfortunately, we are one of the countries in the region that has the lowest and average and minimum wage. We do not see hearing from the opposite side, from the government or employers to make a serious step forward, although we have heard that in Serbia from October 1 the minimum wage will be 500 euros, as much as CCM demands in Macedonia, and will be 550 euros from January 1. Already with a higher salary than the one we are looking for, unfortunately, they leave the country, not only for the sake of wages, but also dissatisfied with the conditions in which we live – Trendafilov said before the conference of the Organization of Employers of Macedonia (ORM) on the occasion of the 20th anniversary.
He noted that productivity should be targeted only through one thing – increasing wages.
« Our workers in Montenegro, Slovenia, Germany, Serbia, Croatia, Evrostija are productive because salaries are three to four times higher than ours, » Trendafilov said, adding if employers plan not to pay for workers as they do today, they cannot expect an increase in productivity.
