Transversale significantly relieves Clerf from traffic
For years, Clerf and the entire surroundings suffered from heavy transport. With the transversale, which connects the National Road N7 north of Marnach with the N18 National Road in the direction of Lentzweiler and the industrial zone there, a traffic calming should occur.
Finally, the Most of the traffic between the northwest and the northeast of Luxembourg wore the N18, which leads from Antoniushof via Clerf to Marnach. Without traffic jams it hardly went through the village. But now the bypass seems to have finally relieved this constriction, as can be seen from the answer from Mobility Minister Yuriko Backes (DP) on a parliamentary question from DP MP André Bauler.
Four -lane expansion of the N7 is off the table
The change is clearly recognizable just seven months after the opening. Clerf was « very relieved » by the new road, explains Yuriko Backes. This is based on the first traffic: Before the bypass was completed, the ministry counted an average of 5,917 vehicles that drove through Clerf on working days. This number dropped to 3,252 after the full opening. In the meantime, an average of 5,143 vehicles per working day use the new route.
Neighboring locations are also relieved
At the same time, the Minister of Mobility looks at the neighboring towns of Clerf, who also feel the side effects of Neue Straße – Especially since the traffic there has not become less. Here, today’s average values of 4,577 vehicles in Antoniushof and 2,248 vehicles in Maulusmühle are faced with the earlier numbers of 4,034 and 2,099 vehicles. Although the traffic has risen slightly here, overall it remains « more or less constant ».
After waiting for a long time: free ride on the transversale from Clferf
The Ministry also emphasizes that « statistically relevant statements » can only be made significantly after one year. Additional data should also be recorded in the surrounding Antoniushaff and Maulusmühle.
