On a business park in Ramskapelle near Nieuwpoort, a very expensive transport machine suddenly stood in light -day on Tuesday morning. The plume of smoke was far to be seen up to hundreds of meters. The machine with a price tag of around 300,000 euros has been lost. The fire brigade had no simple job with extinguishing. « There was a 1,000 liters of 1,000 liters present that threatened to touch overheats and that had to be pumped over, » says fire brigade captain Richard Vandenabeele.
De Brand broke out on Tuesday morning around 10.10 am at a company in the Ramskapellestraat in Ramskapelle, near the E40 in Nieuwpoort. A machine with conveyor belt that had to move sand, among other things, was suddenly on fire. That was accompanied by a huge cloud of smoke that could be seen up to hundreds of meters, especially from the highway. The Nieuwpoort fire brigade immediately pulled out.

« Upon our arrival, the machine was already lit and it was clear that it would be lost without reason, » says fire brigade captain Richard Vandenabeele. “We immediately started extinguishing and shouted an extra tank wagon in Van Post Veurne to have enough water. Because there was also a lot of rubber, everything burned firmly and we had a lot of work. Certainly because the machine also had a fuel oil tank of 1,000 liters and it was overheated. The temperature around the tank would not have been decided to let all the mazi -salt would have to pump that Domapen Out to fly. »
The fire brigade finally stayed on the spot for a few hours and the West Coast police closed part of the street during the fire extinguishing works. The machine, with a price tag of around 300,000 euros, has been completely destroyed. A cause of the fire is not clear.(JHM)
