Trainer FAROLI leaves Ajax after a season
Football coach Francesco Farioli resigns as a Ajax trainer. The Amsterdam football club announced this on Monday. In a reaction, Farioli says that he and the management of Ajax had the same goals, but that a difference « in insight into the way we want to work and operate to achieve those goals » is the reason to leave.
The Italian Faroli only signed a contract with Ajax a year ago. That would run up to and including 2027. The technical staff also depart from assistant trainers Daniele Cavalletto and Felipe Sanchez Mateos, and goalkeeper coach Jarkko Tuomisto.
The message of his departure comes after a big disappointment for Ajax. Although the municipality of Amsterdam was already preparing for a possible ceremony, the team led by Farioli lost the title of national champion in the last three weeks. Despite Ajax’s victory over FC Twente last Sunday, the Eindhoven club PSV became the winner of the Eredivisie with a point difference. On Sunday, Faroli was in tears on the field, on Monday morning he submitted his resignation.
