Train grasps Baum – rail traffic interrupted for hours

A tree slowed down the train traffic in the north of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria for hours. According to police, he was plunged into the overhead line on the route between Mosbach-Neckarelz and Würzburg-Heidingsfeld on Tuesday and captured by a train. Rescue workers helped the approximately 200 passengers outside, a replacement train brought them to the neighboring track to Würzburg train station.

A 66-year-old man had felled the tree near the railway line near Wittighausen (Main-Tauber-Kreis), whereupon it fell into the overhead line. The police are investigating the dangerous intervention in rail traffic. A regional express caught the tree hanging in the overhead line and pulled it up to the standstill of the train. The train could then no longer continue and had to be towed. There was damage of more than 100,000 euros. The railway line was closed to regular train traffic until 10:45 p.m.
