Tragedy in the Tatra Mountains. Krystyna Palmowska, an outstanding Polish climber is dead

An outstanding Polish mountaineer and climber participated in many climbing expeditions, often in the company of legends such as Wanda Rutkiewicz and Anna Czerwińska. As the first woman, she stood at the top of the eight -thousand Broad Peak, she also won Nanga Parbat and Rakaposhi. She climbed the K2 slopes several times (1982, 1984, 1986), each time moving new borders.
Unfortunately, on Monday, June 16, the media circulated tragic news about the death of Krystyna Palmowska. Słowacka Horská Záchranná Služba (HZS) announced that a 76-year-old Polish woman died on Sunday, June 15 as a result of a fall from a rocky area in the area of the Piarażysta Valley at the Koprowy peak.
The search for a Polish mountaineer was initiated on Sunday evening, after the Tatra Volunteer Ambulance Service turned to help her to locate her to Slovak colleagues. Rescuers from Zakopane were also involved in the action.
Six teams of rescuers with dogs, helicopter and drones. Unfortunately, the final of the search turned out to be tragic – On Monday, June 16, the body of the 76-year-old was found in one of the Żlebów Valley. The Polish Association of Mountaineering and the Foundation for the Polish Mountaineering Support Jerzy Kukuczka was confirmed the same day by reports of Krystyna Palmowska’s death.
