Tourism: winter season 2024/25 – more guests, fewer overnight stays
From the point of view of the statisticians, the tourist winter season 2024/25 has gone through: The number of arrivals rose between November and April, but the number of overnight stays decreased slightly, as the State Statistical Office in Fellbach announced.
In total, the accommodation companies in Baden-Württemberg recorded around 9.6 million guests and 23.1 million overnight stays after preliminary figures. The arrivals therefore increased by 2.0 percent compared to the previous winter season. The number of overnight stays, on the other hand, slightly decreased by 0.3 percent, but was at a still high level.
Tourism State Secretary Patrick Rapp (CDU) was satisfied. « For the second time in a row, we were able to record a record value in the number of guests in the winter half-year, which came to Baden-Württemberg for a winter vacation or a stay. »
The winter season was mild and low in snow. It is particularly gratifying that the winter guests had moved to all six travel regions in the country, the Ministry of Economic Affairs said. « Classic winter sports goals, such as the Black Forest or the Swabian Alb, are still particularly in demand. » Likewise, the spa and relaxation locations would have delighted the guests with their offers.
According to the ministry, the holiday destinations have to adjust even better to climate change. In the coming years, one has to expect mild and low -snow winter months more and more. « We can continue to hope for stable numbers or growth in the future, under new framework conditions: year-round, snow or weather-independent experiences and a modern infrastructure are becoming increasingly important.»
